What is test & Tag??

      Test and Tag is the process of checking on a regular basis that electrical plug-in appliances are safe to use.

      The process of doing this is:

1. A thorough visual inspection of the appliance and lead to make sure there is no physical damage or exposed wiring that could allow the user to become electrocuted.

2. A programmed test is then performed by specialized test equipment; this will check the insulation between the outside metal case of the appliance and the conducting wires for any electrical faults that may allow the metal case of the appliance to become electrified, as well as checking that the insulation can withstand 500 volts.

3. Further tests are required for some appliances (earth continuity,lead polarity,resistance) to ensure the connection of the wiring is correct and safe to use.
